How to convert a product to a Bill of Materials (BOM)

If you have an item in Rackbeat that is assembled from underlying products (parts), you can convert the item to a bill of materials. This way, both the item and the parts will be registered in the inventory. Below, we guide you through the process.


To convert an item to a bill of materials, it is important that no transactions (i.e., actions) have been made on the item, and the item must not be in stock.

Converting an item into a bill of materials:

  1. Select the "Items" tab at the top.
  2. Click on "Products" in the menu.
  3. Find the product in the overview that you wish to convert to a bill of materials.
  4. Hover over the three dots to the right on the product line and select the "Convert to Bill of Materials" icon.
  5. Provide relevant information
  6. Scroll down the page and add the underlying products that together make up the bill of materials.
  7. Click "Save Changes" to complete.

You can find the bill of materials under the "Items" tab, in the "Bills of Materials" section of the menu.
