Rackbeat allows you to link your products to different locations, specify default locations, or add specific sub-locations, such as rows and shelves so you always know where a given product is in a particular warehouse.
Locations can be created in two ways: Manually or via import. Below, we will guide you through how to create a location manually. If you need help with import, please go to the Helpdesk article "How to import locations".
Creating a location manually
- Select "Inventory" in the top bar
- Click "Locations" in the menu
- Click "Create new" in the upper right corner
- Name the location and (optional) provide a number
If you leave "Number" blank, Rackbeat will automatically generate a number - Click "Create location"
- If the location has a sub-location (e.g. "Rack 4"), this can be added by clicking "Create new sub-location"
- Name the sub-location and (optional) provide a number
- Click "Create and new"
- If the sub-location also has a sub-location (e.g. "Shelf 7"), this can be added by clicking the "+" to the right of the already existing sub-location ("Rack 4" in this example)
- Name the sub-location and (optional) provide a number
- Click "Create and new"
- The location and sub-location is now created and can be seen in the overview - the location can now be linked to products in your inventory
Link product to location
Now you need to link your location to the product(s) you want to be placed at this location by default.
- Select "Inventory" in the top bar
- Click "Products" in the menu
- Select the product you wish to link with the location
- In the general information about the product, click the field "Standard location" and choose the location you wish to use as standard for this product
- Scroll down and click "Save changes" to finalize
