Backorders in Rackbeat: How Do They Work?
In Rackbeat, you can easily create a backorder.
If an order needs to be split into multiple deliveries, this can be done through partial shipments or backorders.
A backorder means that an order cannot be fully delivered, and the remaining items will be delivered later as a separate order.
Here, we’ll explain what that means and how to do it
What happens when an order is set as a backorder?
- The original order is canceled for the items that were not delivered.
- A new order is automatically created with the remaining items.
Example:
Order #2401 cannot be completed because two items are out of stock. When a backorder is created, the missing items are canceled from order #2401, and a new order (#2402) is created with the remaining items. The new order will note in the comments field that it is a backorder from the previous order number.
Note: You must create an invoice for the items that have already been shipped before creating the backorder. Invoices cannot be created for a canceled order. If this happens, the invoice must be created manually.
